Curiously, important buildings such as the Casa de Juntas and the Tree of Guernica, and Santa Mar\u00eda Church were left untouched. Ever since, Gernika-Lumo has worked on rebuilding from forgiveness and this is evidenced by the Museum of Peace that is housed by the locality to disseminate the culture of peace.<\/p>\n<p>Gernika is a symbol of Basque freedoms, since it is the cradle of the Tree of Gernika and also a municipality that proudly preserves its traditions.
